Our Idea

We found it quite hard to come up with a good idea that could keep the audience interested and isn't the typical thriller that is predictable. Also we didn't want to give too much away in our opening scene as in the questionnaire that I did, the results said that its best if you give away as little as possible in the opening scene, so this will help us target our audience.

We first came up with a sub-genre that we could work with to get an idea of what kind of opening scene we needed to do. Finally we came up with the idea of a sub-genre of horror thriller.

We then had to think what story we could do to emphasise t3he sub- genre that we chose. Including location, props, make up, lighting.

We all discussed about ideas, and we finally came up with a good idea which would show the genre of the film, keep the audience on the edge of their seats and isn't typical and predictable story.

Our idea is, there is a blonde girl around the ages of 16/17 and she has been brought up within a good middle class wealthy family and has a good relationship with them. She goes to a good private school and has a good relationship with her friends as well. The house that she is within school has always had 'rumours' that it was haunted and students get followed by people completely covered in black, but everyone thought it was complete nonsense. However, this girl is a witness to this 'rumour'. She starts to get very paranoid when she was in the house without any of her friends, but she wouldn't say anything to them as she would just laughed at. This started to really get her down that she has no support from anyone that she started to self- harm herself and started to fail in school. No one believed her that she is being followed, this lead her to go off tracks and gives up on everything, even her relationship with her family.

We then had to come up with a title for our film, this was quite hard as we wanted something to attract the audience because in my questionnaire I asked my participants if they thought that a title was very important and the majority of them said yes so we needed to come up with a title that attracted our target audience. We came up with a title called Double Life, but we decided that she wasn't actually living a double life that much because she starts to change and also it doesn't define the genre of the film.  We finally came up with the title ' Tortured'. We thought that this fitted in with our story well and shows that this is a horror thriller so it will target our audience well.

Final Storyboard

This is our final storyboard for our opening scene. Our idea is described in the blog below. The reason why we changed out ifea was because the results would relate to this opening scene more than our other idea.

What has influenced or inspired us into planning our Thriller Opening Scene? 6

Mirrors- Natalia Kills

Music Video

This music video inspired us alot as in the title the 'R' which gave us the idea to use it in our title. Also within the scene that she is looking in the mirror she sees someone in black walk past which also gave us an idea to use it within our film. Also when she turns to look for the person who walked past you see a refection of her doing something else in the mirror that we wanted to use but it was too hard to film it. This music video insipered us alot and gave us some great ideas to work with.

What has influenced or inspired us into planning our Thriller Opening Scene? 5

Women in Black

Music

Our music was influenced by a scene within the Women In Black, they used very creepy music that I think fitted in with our film. This music cause a lot of tension for the audience which is one of the main reasons why I liked it and it emphaised the genre of the film.

We werent allowed to use their music so we made music in GarageBand that we tried to make it very similar so it would still fit within our opening scene.

What has influenced or inspired us into planning our Thriller Opening Scene? 4

Pink- F**cking Perfect

From watching this music video this inspired us a lot as we choose to do a horror thriller so we thought this would work well within our thriller opening scene. We think this would attract the audience as it is very shocking and not expected which makes it even more creepy and scary.

The words used within this music video are associated well and are relevant so before filming this we needed to come up with a word that is relevant and interesting word which is clever to capture the audience.

What has influenced or inspired us into planning our Thriller Opening Scene? 3

Mirrors- Film

From watching this trailer I really like the fact that these two shots have refections within the shot, I think its more interesting and it is very relevant to the film. So when it came to coming up for an idea we decided that we needed to make sure that there is a relevance and not random.

I think this is a good idea and can attract the audience as it not the normal shots that you see within a film.

What has influenced or inspired us into planning our Thriller Opening Scene? 2

Skyfall

Within the opening scene of Skyfall, there is a clip where they zoom into James Bond eye. We thought this would be a good and interesting idea that isn't in typical thriller opening scenes. This also works well with our idea that we are developing.

Also what I like about this image is that as the zoom goes into the eye it changes to another image which flows which I thought looked very good.
